What the hands look like without fur.
Spring Bonnie was my first full costume build. I worked on the main build on and off from October of 2023 to May 2024 and keep adding improvements through September of 2024. He was made with a mix of EVA foam and craft foam.
I first started with the mechanical hands. The hands were made with a EVA foam base and I used sculptable plastic to strengthen the base. I used toggle bolts and strung painting wire through them to make them able to move when my fingers moved. The hands were the first part I made and also the hardest because of all the small moving parts. All the work paid off and led to my favorite part of this build.
I then moved onto the head. I added eye lights that can toggle through a load of different colors, I use mostly green, purple and yellow. The eyes can also pulse on any color, and flash. The ears have painting wire that connect them together. With that I can move the ears around in different poses. The jaw piece is movable and can move when I open or close my mouth. The body was patterned out and transferred on to EVA foam; So were the arms and legs. To connect all the pieces together I added elastic straps.
I learned a lot of important cosplay fundamentals over the course of this project and I am excited to keep using what I learned in future projects.
